(FreedomJournal.Org)- Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is facing huge pressure to resign, following allegations that the World Health Organization, of which he is the Director-General, aided China in its initial coverup of the coronavirus outbreak. On April 8, he made the situation worse by siding with China and attacking the people of Taiwan based on hearsay and Chinese propaganda.
During a briefing, Tedros attacked the country to the shock of journalists in attendance. The controversial Director-General claimed that people in Taiwan were directing racist abuse towards him, a claim pushed by the Chinese Communist Party.
“[S]ince I don’t have any inferiority complex when I am personally affected or attacked by racial slurs, I don’t care because I am a very proud black person or Negro,” he said.
“I don’t care being called even Negro. I am. That’s what came from some quarters and if you want me to be specific, three months ago this attack came from Taiwan. We need to be honest. I will be straight today, from Taiwan and Taiwan the foreign Ministry they know the campaign they didn’t dissociate themselves. They even started criticizing me in the middle of all that insult and slur but I didn’t care,” he added.
The foreign ministry of Taiwan has categorically denied the claims. In a statement, the ministry accused Tedros of not checking the facts.
“Without having checked the facts, Tedros’s unprovoked and untrue accusations not only differ from reality, but they have also seriously harmed our government and our people,” the ministry noted, before insisting that Tedros “immediately correct his unfounded allegations, immediately clarify, and apologize to our country.”
It’s interesting that Tedros would make such extreme claims at a time when he is being accused of helping China cover up the spread of the coronavirus. But, this isn’t the first time the WHO has shown bias against Taiwan.
Senior WHO official Bruce Aylward ended a video call with a journalist when asked questions about Taiwan in March.
The Federalist reached out to the World Health organization, asking for specific examples of attacks directed against Tedros from Taiwan. The news outlet also asked for evidence that the attacks they reference came from Taiwan, and any evidence that Taiwan’s foreign ministry was aware of the alleged campaign. The WHO did not, however, respond.
Maybe that tells you all you need to know…
