PRESS SEC: Intelligence Has No “Consensus” Russia Issued Bounties on American Troops

(FreedomJournal.org)- Kayleigh McEnany, President Trump’s fiery White House Press Secretary, told the press during a briefing on Monday that the intelligence community had no consensus that suggests the Russian government offered bounties on American soldiers to militias linked to the Taliban. It comes after a New York Times report on Saturday that allegedly a Russian military spy group offered bounties to militias linked to the Taliban to kill American troops in Afghanistan.

The report made headlines not just because of how incredible the accusations were, but because the president immediately said he was not briefed on it.

“Nobody briefed or told me, @VP Pence, or Chief of Staff @MarkMeadows about the so-called attacks on our troops in Afghanistan by Russians, as reported through an ‘anonymous source’ by the Fake News @nytimes,” Trump said.

“Everybody is denying it & there have not been many attacks on us…Nobody’s been tougher on Russia than the Trump Administration,” he added.

In 2019, 22 American soldiers were killed in Afghanistan.

President Trump dismissed the claims as “probably just another phony Times hit job, just like their failed Russia Hoax,” before asking, “Who is their ‘source’?”

During a White House Press briefing, McEnany said that senior intelligence officers already told President Donald Trump that they were unaware of any such report.

“The CIA director, the National Security Adviser, and the chief of staff can all confirm that neither the president nor the vice president were briefed on the alleged Russian bounty intelligence,” she said, casting serious doubts over yet another shocking New York Times claim.

The Russian Foreign Ministry denied the report, as did a spokesperson representing the Taliban.

Hey, if Russia, the United States, and the Taliban actually agree on something, you can bet they’re probably telling the truth…
