Minneapolis City Council Panics Over Riot Damage AFTER Calling To Defund Police

(FreedomJournal.org)- At the very beginning of the Black Lives Matter and Antifa riots that are plaguing American cities, Minneapolis City Council was at the forefront of the “Defund the Police” movement. The far-left Democratic city council initially voted to dismantle the police department entirely – a move that appears to be temporarily on hold – and have repeatedly defended the defunding of police departments all over the United States.

Ironically, though, the Democrat-controlled council is now reportedly panicking about the huge amount of damage being done to the city by the extremist rioters. After George Floyd died during an arrest in May, the city has been badly affected by arson, violence, and destruction, all in the name of “racial justice.”

MPR News reported that during a two-hour council meeting to discuss police records, council members told local police Chief Medaria Arradondo that their constituents are “seeing and hearing street racing which sometimes results in crashes, brazen daylight carjackings, robberies, assaults, and shootings.” The increase in violent crime came after the riots, as criminals appear to have been emboldened by the site of extremists not being arrested or facing prosecution for taking part in the George Floyd riots.

“The number of reported violent crimes, like assaults, robberies, and homicides are up compared to 2019, according to MPD crime data,” the outlet reported. “More people have been killed in the city in the first nine months of 2020 than were slain in all of last year.”

The report also describes how burglaries and auto thefts have increased, and arson incidents have gone up by 55% compared to the same time in 2019.

City council member Jamal Osman told the local police, without any hint of irony, “Residents are asking, ‘Where are the police?’”

She means the police they voted to dismantle and defund, right?

Osman reportedly indicated that local constituents have flooded him with complaints about their calls to the police not being answered, and other council members reportedly said that their constituents feel like they are being “terrorized.”

Incredible, City Council President Lisa Bender, who was at the forefront of the calls to defund the Minneapolis Police Department in its entirety, accused officers of “being defiant.”

So do they want police…or not?
