Michigan CERTIFIES Election Results Despite Irregularities, Trump Campaign Responds

(FreedomJournal.org)- Despite evidence of possible fraud and irregularities in Michigan, the state’s election board voted in favor of certifying their election results on Monday. The decision was made despite the Republican party calling for the delay of the certification until a full audit of the results could be performed.

Associated Press reporter Zeke Miller announced the news on Twitter, describing it as a “setback in Trump’s effort to overturn election results.”

In reality, it’s a set back in President Trump’s legal team’s ability to ensure a full audit of the election results is performed. An audit would allow the American voters to know that the votes counted were all legitimately and legally cast.

Senior legal advisor for the Trump 2020 campaign, Jenna Ellis, released a statement on Monday describing the certification as “simply a procedural step.”

“We are going to continue combatting election fraud around the country as we fight to count all the legal votes,” she said. “Americans must be assured that the final results are fair and legitimate.”

The decision to certify the results despite evidence of irregularities is likely to cause anger and frustration to Republican voters, given that state Senators Lana Theis and Tom Barrett sent a letter to the Michigan Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson, way back on November 13 requesting a full audit of the results.

“Every citizen deserves to have faith in the integrity of the election process and its outcome,” they wrote. “It is our responsibility, as elected public servants, to assure the people of Michigan of the process’s integrity through complete transparency and the faithful investigation of any allegations of wrongdoing, fraud, or abuse.”

In the letter, the state senators described how sworn affidavits from over 100 Michigan citizens showed that the election process was compromised and that wrongdoing took place.

“These claims deserve our full attention and diligent investigation to ensure fairness and transparency in our election process,” they wrote.

The certification of the results comes after two Republican members of the Wayne County Board of Canvassers initially refused to certify, but backtracked and voted to certify after being harassed and threatened by Democrats. When they then later expressed their wish to retract their certification votes, telling the press that they had been threatened, they learned that Michigan has no legal mechanism for a retraction.

President Donald Trump’s legal team, however, has yet to give up on the state and appears to be continuing to push for an audit of the results.
