Impeachment Hearings CONFIRMED Against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer

( Michigan Republican legislators formally introduced a resolution to impeach Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Wednesday, in a blow to the controversial Democrat’s plans to maintain an excessive lockdown on her state.

The new resolution, which was introduced by Reps. Matt Maddock, Beau LaFave, and Daire Rendon, includes four articles that accuse Whitmer of corrupt conduct in office and exceeding her constitutional authority as governor.

It comes just days after a new three-week lockdown was imposed on the state, despite the state’s Supreme Court ruling that Whitmer’s use of emergency powers to ban people from buying “non-essential goods” from supermarkets earlier this year was unconstitutional.

Surprisingly, however, the impeachment resolution was not universally supported by State Republicans, with Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirley and House Speaker Lee Chatfield both refusing the back the impeachment efforts.

That’s the same Mike Shirley, by the way, who falsely claimed that Joe Biden had won the 2020 election and said that the state legislature would vote for electors that would vote for Joe Biden.

Are you surprised he refused to back impeachment?

Speaking to Detroit News, House Speaker Chatfield said that the impeachment resolution “will not have any proceeding on the House floor” and said that it was a “distraction from the real things we have to get done in our state.”

What can be done in Michigan while it’s under lockdown?

“I have not signed on to any notion of impeachment hearings,” so-called Republican Shirkey also said on Tuesday.

Whitmer claims that she has the authority to introduce the fresh lockdown orders, despite the Supreme Court in her state previously telling her she doesn’t.

Days ago, Whitmer said that she would like to see the Republican legislature pass a mask mandate that would require all residents of Michigan to wear a mask when leaving their home. She said it was the “best weapon we have against our common enemy.” She also said that her new arbitrary lockdown, which even Dr. Anthony Fauci has said doesn’t need to happen, is “precisely the power that one of the justices pointed to in terms of actions we can and should be taking through this pandemic.”

Under the new lockdown rules that prompted the impeachment resolution, the people of Michigan will not be able to frequent bars or restaurants, children will not be able to go to school, and indoor social gatherings are banned.
