DR. FAUCI FIRED? Trump Tells Crowd He May Fire Fauci After Winning Re-Election

(FreedomJournal.org)- During one of several rallies hosted by President Donald Trump in Florida on Sunday, the future of Dr. Anthony Fauci’s role in the White House Coronavirus Task Force was cast into doubt. The president suggested that he may be willing to fire the immunologist from his role after he wins the election.

Dr. Fauci, who is the head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, is perhaps the best-known member of the White House Coronavirus Task Force. He and President Donald Trump have butted heads repeatedly over the last year, as Fauci has favored more restrictive measures to tackle COVID-19 while the president has preferred keeping the economy open while investing heavily in therapeutics and care.

“You turn on the news, ‘COVID, COVID, COVID, COVID, we’d like to talk about Covid!’, and then next story,” the president told the crowd. “Here’s what happens Nov. 4…you won’t hear too much about it. You won’t hear too much about it.”

At this point, members of the crowds began calling for the firing of Dr. Fauci.

“Fire fauci!” one man can be heard shouting, before the rest of the crowd began chanting the same thing.

President Donald Trump could be seen smiling, before saying, “Don’t tell anybody, but let me wait until a little bit after the election.”

“I appreciate the advice. Nah, he’s been wrong on a lot, he’s a nice man though, He’s been wrong on a lot,” he added.

Should the president go ahead and fire Fauci, he would not be required to navigate around the same political landscape as he would if re-election was on the cards. President Trump would be free to pursue the response to the COVID-19 pandemic that he thinks is best for the American people, and smears by the Democrats would mean much less than they have done so far.

Dr. Fauci has said that social distancing and some mask requirements could be necessary not just throughout 2021, but into 2022.

“You’re not going to have a profound degree of herd immunity for a considerable period of time, maybe toward the end of 2021, into 2022,” he said. “I feel very strongly that we’re going to need to have some degree of public-health measures to continue. Maybe not as stringent as they are right now.”

Even after a vaccine is delivered, Fauci’s response to the pandemic could see the U.S. economy still unable to fully reopen.

If President Trump does fire him, that may change.
