(FreedomJournal.Org)- Former Vice President Joe Biden is already stooping to all the same lows that failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton did in the 2016 race. This week, presumed Democratic presidential candidate Biden claimed that some of President Trump’s supporters believe “all Muslims are bad” and that “all Mexicans are rapists.”
The lie is based on comments made by then-candidate Donald Trump during the 2016 race, discussing the ongoing problem of criminals, rapists, and drug dealers crossing the southern U.S. border illegally.
Biden made the comments during a virtual fundraiser with donors on Wednesday. He was asked about whether he intended to reach out to Trump’s base in the general election; a strategy that most Democrats would struggle with at this point, but nonetheless a strategy that is necessary to win a presidential election.
“There are people who support the president because they like the fact that he is engaged in political division,” Biden told his donors. “They really support the notion that, you know, all Mexicans are rapists and all Muslims are bad and…dividing this nation based on ethnicity, race.”
It makes you wonder whether Biden and his team actually listened to what Trump said in that early campaign video, or whether they know that he didn’t say that but parrot it anyway for political gain.
Biden has long said that he was the only Democratic candidate capable of reaching out to the white working-class in the Rust Belt and flyover states in this election, but with an attitude like that, he won’t get very far.
Instead of reaching out to the base that he believes is racist to its core, Biden suggested a better target would be Republicans who don’t want to vote for Trump.
“The people who voted Republican last time…who don’t want to vote for Trump, whether they want to vote for me or not is a different story, but they don’t want to vote for Trump,” he added. “They’re looking for an alternative, and I think, I hope to. God, I can provide that alternative.”
Biden might be able to win over the likes of Joe Walsh, but does he think there are many disaffected Republicans out there who would rather vote for him than Trump?
